Teens wanted for real! For teens seeing is believing. While many of the teen departures offered by the Adventure Center are scheduled for specific dates throughout the year, two departures one to Egypt and one to Slovenia have been designed specifically with teens in mind, as each trip name indicates.
Eastern Europe: Slovenia, Slovenian Lakeside Adventure for Teenagers. From mid July through the end of August match a perfect mountain lake with fast flowing river, what a terrific combination. Created with the same high energy spirit which marks The Adventure Center’s family trips, this family adventure takes place in the heart of Slovenia’s Julian Alps. Lake Bohinj is the perfect base for mountain adventures. Activities both on and around the lake include: orienteering, canoeing, mountain bike rides, or try optional rock climbing and canyoning in the area. On to the Kolpa River and a river expedition along the Kolpa Canyon, swim in the warm turquoise waters; try archery or tackle a high-ropes course. Fun stuff with teens, no one will be bored.
Africa: Egypt, Active in the Sinai Teenage Adventure. The desert is hot which makes it really cool for teens. On this adventure share Cairo and Egypt’s awesome pyramids; enjoy time in the desert and explore Giza and the Egyptian Museum; head southwest by 4WD vehicle into the vast, empty Western Desert the other-worldly features of the ‘White Desert’. Ride camels and camp at night under a brilliant star-filled sky Not the MTV version. Visit to a medieval village in the desert, before heading to the Nile city of Luxor. Ride by donkey to the Valley of the Kings and by calesh (horse-drawn carriage) to Karnak Temple. Then on to the Red Sea resort of Hurghada where there’s time to relax, swim and snorkel.
Need to know: Minimum age for this adventure is 12 years. Some camps will be fixed with facilities and others are rustic.

Eastern Europe: Family Teen Trips. Croatia: Kids in Kayaks. Take a full day to explore Dubrovnik, one of the world’s most attractive and best-preserved fortified cities. Visit the Elafiti Islands which lie just off the coast. Go kayaking around and between the many islands; enjoy walking and biking with your teen, no cell phone to compete.
Slovakia: Slovakian Snow Adventure. Spend a snowy week of in Tatra Mountains in the mountain village of Zuberec. Three slopes equipped with lifts and downhill pistes; try a horse-drawn sleigh ride; sample a meal with a Slovak family; go off on snowshoes; swim in a hot thermal pool; go dog-sledding and try night skiing.
Europe: Family Teen Trips. Italy: Around the Bay of Naples. See the atmospheric Roman ruins of Herculaneum; climb to the top of the legendary Mt. Vesuvius; ferry to Capri; visit the Blue Grotto by boat; walk Pompeii’s ancient streets.
Spain: Active Aracena. Familes bike, hike & kayak their way through a hidden corner of Spain & Portugal. Taste the local flavour in our comfortable family-run guesthouses; swim in warm seas & explore sandy islands off the coast.
Switzerland: Active in the Alps. This is an action-packed week between the Matterhorn to the South and the Eiger to the North. Walk the Aletsch Glacier is the largest glacier in Europe. Ride to the summit of Eggishorn; hunt for minerals in one of the world’s richest mineral quarries.
Asia/Pacific Rim: Family Teen Trips. Indonesia: Volcanoes & Dragons Schooner Adventure. 10-day schooner cruise amongst the untouched isles of Eastern Indonesia. Families get the chance to climb volcanic craters, search for magnificent Komodo dragons and flying foxes, wander through traditional villages and mingle with the locals, enjoy beach barbecues, swim and snorkel
Malaysia: Headhunters of Borneo. A trip to grab the imagination; explore tropical forests, meet Iban tribes’ people; see turtles and orangutans; stay with your own Iban (headhunter!); hike jungle trails; visit Turtle Island is one of the few places where marine turtles come almost year-round to lay their eggs.
Nepal: Himalayan Adventure. Explore the temples, bazaars, foothills and jungle of the breathtaking mountain kingdom. See ‘Monkey Temple’ of Kathmandu; walk into the foothills of the snow-capped Himalayas. Descend into the steamy jungle of Chitwan National Park; take an elephant-back safari.
Thailand: Land of Smiles. Ride by long-tailed boat along Bangkok’s canals; see awesome spired temples, large statues and saffron-robed Buddhist monks; take the overnight train to Chiang Mai travel through the jungle by elephant, visit hill tribe villages; explore beautiful caves and play on palm-fringed beaches.
Vietnam: Good Morning Vietnam. Hanoi to Saigon, enjoy beaches, markets, islands and friendly locals. Sail in secluded Halong Bay; spend a night with a local family in the Mekong Delta; ride the famous Reunification Express train south to Hué, the cultural capital.
Sri Lanka: Indian Ocean Isles. A two-centre holiday full of highlights with the warmth of the climate matched by friendly locals. Visit the mystical Temple of the Tooth; see the ancient cave temples of Dambulla and Sigiriya’s famous ‘Lion Rock’ as well as giant statues of Buddha at Polonnaruwa.
