Tours: Austin-Lehman Adventures - Explore Europe with Family-Friendly Cycling Tours.
Discover Europe the best way possible, on a two wheels! Austin-Lehman offers five family biking tours that explore the castles of France, the tulips of Holland, the rivers of Germany, the hills of Austria, and the beaches of Denmark.
Here's the scoop. If you are considering a family vacation in Europe and you want it to be fun and easy, look no further than a
family biking tour by Austin-Lehman Adventures. As a point of distinction that sets ALA apart from other adventure travel companies, Dan Austin explains, “Instead of focusing on the most prestigious lodgings with paths that get us there, we first choose the best pedaling paths, most scenic routes and least trafficked byways and then target the most charming, authentic lodgings to serve as our way stations along our family-friendly routes.”
The family biking programs in Europe are ideal for parents with children seven years of age or older. These family adventures embrace ALA’s six guests to one guide a ratio that has set a high industry standard. ALA manages all of the arrangements for its selected destinations including first-class accommodations, most meals and beverages, expert guides, park entry fees, all necessary equipment, ground transportation and luggage service. Not included is round trip travel to the host city.
Austin-Lehman Europe Family Vacations include:Austria Family | Alps to Salzburg - Castles, cable cars, and glacier-carved canyons in the Austrian Alps.
Denmark Family | Danish Isles - Viking lore, the Little Mermaid, and kid-friendly beaches.
France Family| Loire Valley - Vineyards, fields of sunflowers, and the medieval castles of the Loire.
Germany Family| Mosel Valley - Majestic castles, whimsical gardens and ancient Roman artifacts.
Holland Family | Haarlem to Odoorn - Working windmills, pathways along the Zuiderzee, and gardens of the Keukenhof.
Good news for multi-generations families. ALA now has an electric bicycle option on European biking tours. They are among the first US tour operators to introduce electric bicycles as an option on all of its European biking tours. It’s terrific news for grandparents (or parents) who want to share a cycling tour with their family but have felt overwhelmed at the prospect of keeping up the pace. According to ALA’s European operations manager Ron van Dijk, e-bikes can enhance an experience and widen the appeal to travelers who were once intimidated by a biking tour in Europe - it makes hills a lot easier.
Here’s the e-bike scoop. Austin-Lehman Adventures will use the latest model Diamant electric bikes with Trek Ride+™ technology. This is a lightweight aluminum frame bike with a lithium ion battery-operated motor that when engaged boosts a rider’s natural human power, enabling him/her to pedal with less effort farther and faster. When the course gets steep and a rider is ready for extra power, the rider hits a button and selects an assist level I to IV and continues pedaling. At day’s end batteries are removed and charged for tomorrow’s ride.
Need to know. Those opting for an e-bike option will be assessed $25 per day per e-bike on European itineraries. Plans call for adding the same service on US itineraries in the near future.
