Family Travel Files Ezine Family Vacations Resource
Texas: Port Aransas, Cinnamon Shore Provides Unique Family Beach Getaway. For decades, families have flocked to vacations spots in California and Florida to soak up the sun and spend time together. But more recently, a new community in a different sea-side state is attracting attention - Cinnamon Shore, a traditional seaside community on Mustang Island, just three hours southeast of San Antonio, Austin and Houston. Cinnamon Shore is host to a ton of fun activities for families such as swimming, surfing, boogie boarding and sandcastle building.

“Most people associate Texas with history, sports teams and the energy industry,” says Jeff Lamkin, Cinnamon Shore developer. “Even our own residents aren’t necessarily familiar with the coastline here but its beauty, accessibility and value with new projects makes it so appealing right now.”

Cinnamon Shore was designed specifically with families in mind. Using a term called “new urbanism,” it incorporates a town center, several parks, minimal impact on the environment, and planned activities for families to enjoy together. The layout is conducive to knowing your neighbors and creating a sense of camaraderie throughout the community. It was incredibly important for Lamkin (a father himself), to cater to the crowd dying for a break from the stress of everyday life.

“During the year we are all running from place to place with no breaks to really foster that family relationship. Coming down to the shore creates a sense of nostalgia for parents, and new memories for children,” says Lamkin.

Discovery: Outside Magazine named Mustang Island one of the top 10 Beach Getaways both for its beauty and unique activities including deep-sea fishing. Cinnamon Shore will also be hosting bonfires and movie nights on the beach, making sure to utilize the beach as a place for community gatherings.

About Cinnamon Shore. Shore is a seaside community on Mustang Island in Port Aransas, Texas. Mustang Island is located less than four hours from the state’s three most populated cities – Houston, San Antonio and Austin and only seven hours from the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. Cinnamon Shore is comprised of distinctive homes, peaceful parks and ponds, and a Town Center with gathering spaces, restaurants and shopping.  It is entering the third phase of development and features residences starting as low as $200,000. Outside magazine recently declared Mustang Island one of America’s top 10 beach getaways for boasting the country’s best bay and deep sea fishing. Cinnamon Shore is also only 1 mile away from the new Arnold Palmer Signature Links golf course - Newport Dunes, rated in the top 10 by Golf Digest for Best New Course in America for 2009.
