Arrange organized fun just for kids. The Rainbow Express Keiki Club is Hilton Hawaiian Village’s year round children’s program. It is offered daily for keiki (children) ages 5 to 12. Each day brings a new theme to educate and entertain. Rainbow Express Keiki Club highlights the cultural Hawaiian heritage of the islands. There are field trips on selected days to the Waikiki Aquarium and the Honolulu Zoo. We have a variety of on-property activities such as Hawaiian games, reef walking at low tide, fish feeding at the koi ponds, arts and crafts, and of course swimming at the keiki pool. Both half-day programs and full-day programs are available.
Everyone can stay up late. Friday night is always made special with Aloha Friday King’s Jubilee & Fireworks. Children may sign up in advance to participate in the popular Friday event called The King’s Jubilee.
Each Friday, the color and pageantry of Hawaii’s monarchy are brought to life in this tribute to King Kalakaua, the “Merrie Monarch.” The show features the King’s procession, flag ceremony, precision rifle drill, Hawaiian entertainment and fireworks display. Times are seasonal. From April through September, the procession begins at 6:45 p.m., with the main show from 7 to 8 p.m. From October through March, the flag ceremony begins at 6:15 p.m.; with the main show from 6:30 to 7: 30 p.m. Poolside seating is $20 per person, and includes one drink.
Try ukulele lessons with your kids. Ukulele lessons are fun and easy for the entire family. Guests can learn how to strum the four-stringed instrument introduced to the islands by the Portuguese. Guests may take part each Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Shell Lounge but 24-hour advance registration required.
It really is water, water, everywhere. Water adventures often define family fun at the beach and the Hilton Hawaiian Village® offers plenty of chance for fun. Onsite you’ll find five swimming pools including a keiki pool (kids only). The main pool is a two-tiered, 10,000-square-foot Super Pool surrounded by lava rock waterfalls and tropical plants. The Beach Activities Center, next to the Hau Tree Bar® between Rainbow Tower® and Ali‘i Tower®, offers beach towels for resort guests as well as water sport equipment rental and instruction, including snorkeling, kayaking, sailing and surfing. Beach chairs and umbrellas are also available for rent.
Go underwater without holding your breath. Another fun family activity is an Atlantis Submarine underwater tour. A shuttle boat will take passengers on a ten minute scenic cruise from the Hilton Pier out to sea to the Atlantis Submarine dive site. There they will board a real passenger submarine and dive 120 feet below the ocean’s surface into the habitat of countless exotic sea creatures mingling among the Atlantis reef, while a knowledgeable guide provides interesting information about the marine environment.
Submarine tours leave the Hilton Pier every hour between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily. Tours start at $89 for adult, $45 for children. Children must be 36 inches tall to ride the submarine. And of course, with the Village located on Waikiki’s best beach, families will want to spend time building sandcastles, swimming, strolling or just soaking in the sun.
Enjoy mom-kid time at Mandara Spa. The Mandara Spa in the Kalia Tower provides the perfect place for mom-kids bonding. Independently owned and operated, Mandara Spa offers traditional Balinese and Hawaiian treatments as well as Asian and European therapies. And for the younger set, Mandara offers its YSPA Menu, a hip youth spa menu featuring treatments such as Heavenly Massage, Surfers’ Scrub, Fabulous Fruity Facial and Acne Attack Facial.
