South Carolina: Myrtle Beach, The Breakers Resort Family Vacation Fun – Beach, Golf, and a Lazy River. 719MBBreakersStrand Located on the edge of the brilliantly blue Atlantic Ocean, the family friendly Breakers Resort complex provides vacationers with access to one of the best spans of beach on the Strand. An ideal family vacation spot the Breakers offers not just sun, sand, sea, and golf but quick access to live entertainment terrific shopping.

The Resort: This beachside resort contains three distinct buildings from which to select: Paradise Tower, North Tower and the original Resort Tower. Each has its own personality but all are just footsteps from the sand and the Atlantic Ocean.

Rooms: The variety of room selections provides a solution for almost any family combination. The layouts vary slightly from the North Tower and Resort Tower to the newer Paradise Tower. The North Tower features one to three room suites, while the Resort Tower has oversized standard rooms with extra long beds as well as mini refrigerators and either microwaves or efficiency kitchens. The Paradise Tower has units configured to provide more space for guests. The two-room studio contains two queen beds as well as a sofa sleeper, microwave and mini fridge and two TVs. Activities: Relaxation and convenience go hand-in-hand from the beach and the pool, to easy parking and trolley service laying all of Myrtle Beach at family’s fingertips. Guests may enjoy the complimentary children's activity program "The Breakers Resort Kidz" conducted during the busiest vacation times. The organized children's activities (Mon-Fri) include I-Spy games, hula hoop competitions, arts and crafts, pool games, treasure hunts and lots more.

The resort also offers guests the use of whirlpools, enclosed for winter months, an indoor pool, and sauna. There is an exercise room and game room when the sun and fun becomes too much. The beach is lovely and there is a protected pathway behind the first set of dunes that allows guests to walk along the beach with ease, avoiding sunbathers and Frisbee games yet oblivious to the traffic on Beach Blvd. The outdoor pools are private and protected. Bonus points: Under the Paradise Tower there is a 418' lazy river that meanders both inside and out. There are hot tubs for the sedentary and buckets that dump water on those tubing the course of the lazy river channel. Need to know: At the top of the center building there is a lounge with nightly entertainment and across the street on the first level is Papa’s Restaurant and Starbucks.719MBLazyRiver

Discovery: Just park your car and forget it. We learned during our stay that Myrtle Beach has a wonderful trolley service. Much like Galveston or Pigeon Forge, the beach trolleys use reserved lanes and provide connections to the most popular spots within the destination. It is in full swing each summer, providing visitors with flexibility and easing stress.

Here’s the deal: From June through August, families staying throughout the Resort and Boutique North Tower can take advantage of the Breakers Family Value Package. The package includes full buffet breakfast for the whole family, dinner for the kids (12 and under) with a paying adult, and a souvenir soft drink cup with unlimited refills. Minimum stay is 4 nights and maximum stay is 7 nights. Another family package at the Breakers, available from May 31, 2010 through September 6, 2010, is the Family Value with Walmart Card package.
