New Hampshire: Tamworth, Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm Provides Family Fun for All Ages.
If you are traveling off-the-beaten path and find yourself between the Lakes and White Mountains the Remick is not-to-be-missed for classic family fun.
Are you seeking ways to unplug your family for a few hours and share real time activities? Remick Museum, both fun and affordable, offers many possibilities none of which require cell phone service. Explore seasonal exhibits or take a guided farm tour and meet resident livestock; enjoy a farm-fresh lunch or dinner; participate in organized children’s activities or hike nearby scenic trails. And yes, there is a gift shop with enticing vintage items, books, New Hampshire crafts, and clever gifts.
Here’s the scoop. Authentic describes the experience from the moment you take the keys out of the ignition. The Museum which is located near Mount Chocorua is an inviting place for families of all ages. Perhaps most popular with youngsters is the Farm Museum because of the possibility to see and in some case touch resident farm animals.
The Farm is the best place in New Hampshire to observe rural life from 1790 to the present day. The complex includes a cattle barn, milk house, maple sugar house, stable, and a historic English Barn. Because it is a working farm visitors can see sheep, goats, cows, steers, oxen, chickens, and turkeys in residence. During the spring and summer months add to the list lambs and pigs.
Burn off energy on Binsack Trail. During any season visitors are encouraged to follow the Binsack Trail – a 6/10-mile low impact route yielding expansive views of Mount Chocorua, and the Ossipee Mountain Range, and Remick Farm.
Visitors are invited to engage in the moment no matter the season. That means it is possible to take a scenic horse-drawn sleigh or sled ride with your l

oved ones or family members. Explore the Museum’s seasonal exhibits and peer through the eyes of Dr. Edwin Crafts Remick - country doctor and farmer. During the summer and fall months views the 1830's garden planted with vintage herbs and vegetables. Cold weather months offer sleigh rides, harvest dinners, Thanksgiving celebrations, ice harvesting, and maple sugaring.
Throughout the year programs for children are available. Activities include creating leather bound books, playing with traditional and historic toys and games, creating woodland fairies out of felt, learning to cook on a hearth, meeting farm animals, and story time. Bonus points: Each summer the museum conducts a series of day camps for children.
