Delaware: Rehoboth Beach, Possibly the Best Beach in the World.
From fun on the famous beachfront boardwalk and miles of sand and surf to salty fries and pizza, two brothers name the same beach but for different reasons.
Here’s the scoop. David and Noah Bibb responded to our annual question posed to young writers. Where is the best beach in the world? We are sharing their unique perspectives because if you have not already made plans for a summer beach vacation you may wish to put Rehoboth Beach on the list if only to enjoy the food and fun along the boardwalk.
According to David (age 10). For me the best beach in the world is Rehoboth Beach. I like to hear the waves crashing on the sand. I can also hear people screaming from the rides on the boardwalk. I hear all of that and just know I am going to have fun. I get to go swimming and I love to ride the waves up to the beach. Sometimes I use a boogey board which adds to the ride. I look for crabs, rocks and shells. The shells are very pretty. I really like to run up and down the beach too. When I get tired, I just lie in the sand and get a tan.
One of the best parts of the beach is the boardwalk. On the boardwalk, I can smell Nicole’s Pizza. It smells so good that it makes my mouth water. They have the best pizza and Nicole’s also has boardwalk fries - very tasty!
After I enjoy my pizza and fries, I like to go to the arcade and play games. It is so much fun! I use all of my quarters to purchase tickets to ride the rides. The haunted house is scary but fun. I like the bumper cars the best because the cars go forward and backward fast and I can bump into people. It is really funny! There is also a maze that I love to go through.
I have so much fun when I spend the day at Rehoboth Beach! It is sad to leave. When I get home, I am always very tired from all the fun.
According to Noah (age 14). To me the best beach in the world is Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. I always have so much fun when I go there. I look forward to the variety of smells, wonderful things to taste, and the many beautiful things to see.
At Rehoboth Beach there are so many mouth watering smells. The one smell that I love is the aroma of sizzling boardwalk fries cooking in the fryer. They smell so good that I just have to get some. I wish that smell would never go away, but then I smell something else-- warm, freshly made dough baking on a pizza pan. That smell makes me so glad that I live in Delaware because Grottos Pizza is only in this state. In my opinion they have the best pizza in the whole world. The smell of their newly made pizza hits my nose, begging me to buy it. I just have to cave in and get some! As I walk down the boardwalk, I can smell the salty air coming off of the ocean one of the many things that I can smell while I am at the beach.
As I pass by all of the boardwalk rides I stop and see the one that I enjoy the most, the Pirate Ship - a giant boat that swings back and forth. As it takes me to the top, just before it is about to go back the other way I catch a glimpse of the big, blue ocean. I can see little boats and gigantic tanker ships. Then as I reach the highest point of the ride, I can see ant-sized people enjoying their day at the beach just like me. When the haunted house opens, my little brothers beg me to go take them on that ride. I always end up saying, “yes!” and going with them. I get on the first cart with them and off we go in a room full of glowing green skulls all different shapes and sizes. As we near the end and come around the corner, a horn goes off and a truck driver appears. It’s fun to be scared just as the door opens and it is over.
On the way back to the car after a fun-filled day at the beach, I can smell the cool salty air off the water as it hits me in the face. Right before I get ready to shut my door, I fill my nose with the salty air one last time. On the way home, I fall fast asleep. This describes my day at the best beach in the world.

As I have mentioned often communities with live theater offerings make the best spots to vacation because they offer unique living art experiences meant to be shared. Rehoboth fits the profile for “Best” because the area has not just live entertainment along the boardwalk but two theatre companies with productions for families.
