England: London, Harry Potter Studio Tours Available Spring 2012.
Great news for Harry Potter fans. The magic does not have to fade according to Warner Brothers Studios. The much anticipated London studio will be open to muggles in April.
Here’s the scoop. Details were recently revealed about London Studio Tour dubbed “The Making of Harry Potter.” The unique three-hour walking tour will provide young muggles and wizards-in-training the opportunity to go behind the scenes and see firsthand how the magical world of Mr. Harry Potter and classmates was created.
The Warner Brothers London Studio Location is Leavesden, just about 25 miles north of London. The studio tour will allow guests to walk onto some of films most incredible sets including the eye-popping Great Hall. Dumbledore’s office will more than likely be popular as the Gryffindor common room, the boys’ dormitory, Hagrid’s hut, Potion’s classroom and Professor Umbridge’s office at the Ministry of Magic. Tours (mostly self-directed) will provide access to the authentic sets, and costumes used in the film series as well as animatronics, props and effects from all eight movies.
Just a few details from Warner. The Great Hall was created by BAFTA-winning production designer Stuart Craig in 2000 for the first in the series,
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The Hall is 36 metres (120ft) long by 12 metres (40ft) wide, with a solid stone floor, and includes the tables and benches used in the films.
Dumbledore’s office was created for
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and is also the home of the Sorting Hat, The Sword of Gryffindor and Dumbledore’s desk surrounded by a library of ancient books. The office walls are hung with paintings commissioned specifically for the films, including two portraits of Professor Dumbledore.
Bonus points: Digital guides packed with interviews and never before seen behind-the-scenes footage will be are available plus there is a souvenir guide memento of the tour.
Location on the planet. The studios were built at Leavesden Aerodrome on the site of a former Rolls-Royce factory near Leavesden, Hertfordshire. The first production to be filmed there was the James Bond movie
GoldenEye in 1995. The studios are three miles from the centre of Watford (20 minutes by train from London Euston station) and near the M25 and M1 motorways. There will be a bus service from Watford Junction station to the studio.
