BC: Whistler, Share the Fun - Explore the Extensive Mountain Bike Trail System.  Whistler BC Mountain Biking by Sterling LorenceFrom the awe-inspiring bike park and an extensive off-road trail network to the 40-kilometre paved multi-purpose Valley Trail system, exploring Whistler by mountain bike is a easier than ever.

Here’s the scoop. Thanks to the new online mountain bike trails database it is effortless to navigate the extensive network of trails. The mountain bike trails database is a new feature available on Whistler.com showcasing the extensive trail network in and around Whistler. This interactive map provides an overview of trails, their locations and degree of difficulty allowing users to click on individual trails to access more detailed GPS trail information.

Begin at the park - Whistler Mountain Bike Park. When it comes to mountain biking, Whistler offers an unparalleled variety of cross-country and downhill terrain to explore, from high alpine single-track to the world-renowned Whistler Mountain Bike Park. Wait for it! New to the bike park this year is the Top of the World trail. Offering 360 degree views of the surrounding glaciers, lakes and peaks, the trail increases the park's vertical by more than 330 metres (1,091 feet).  With more than 60 trails and 1,508 metres (4,946 feet) of vertical, Whistler Mountain Bike Park offers more trails and more vertical feet than any other bike park in North America.  The trail begins at the top of Peak Chair, descending through three climate zones: Alpine Tundra, Mountain Hemlock and Temperate Rainforest. A limit of 100 riders per day are permitted on the new trail, opening up new terrain to eager advanced riders ready to test their skills on Whistler's alpine slopes. Need to know:  Riding the Peak Chair will require a separate lift ticket which will cost riders $15 in addition to a bike park pass.

Ride the valley – the Valley Trail. Stretching 40 km throughout the Whistler valley, the paved Valley Trail network connects Whistler's neighborhoods offering a scenic path to your destination. Whether routing from the village to Lost Lake, along the River of Golden Dreams to Meadow Park, around the Whistler Golf Club to Rainbow Park or touring to Alpha, Nita or Alta Lake, the Valley Trail is an optimal option for riders of all ability levels. Bring your own bike, or rent through a number of operators.

Here’s the deal. The Ride it. Share it. You could win it! contest invites entrants to submit a photo or video of themselves riding the various Whistler trails to the Interactive Whistler Mountain Bike Trail Map for a chance to win a 2013 Santa Cruz Carbon Nomad mountain bike fitted with a 2013 FOX suspension. (The contest closes September 10, 2012.)
