Ecuador: Quivertree - A Special Family Cruise in the Galapagos Islands. For those who plan ahead this is great news for spring break 2013. Swim with penguins, kayak with sea lions, walk amongst giant tortoises or trek over active volcanoes.

Here’s the scoop. Quivertree has announced a special family cruise in the Galapagos Islands next April. A visit to the Galapagos Archipelago is perhaps one of the greatest wildlife adventures on the planet.  It is totally different from a safari because it is possible to get within a foot or two of the most intriguing wildlife on earth. Encounters vary by day and by season but expect to see blue footed boobies,  marine and land iguanas. Swim and snorkel with sea lions and sea turtles plus observe the famous giant tortoises basking in the sun. All in all, it is an amazing

The Quivertree cruise will be on the M/Y Samba, a tourist-superior class motor yacht that Gideon has been on himself and knows well. The Samba carries 14 passengers with space available on a first-come, first-served basis. Accommodation is in small cabins with two bunk beds and a small bathroom with shower in each cabin. The cabins are really for sleeping only  because most of the time is spent in the large saloon area, sunbathing on deck, hiking  on land and snorkeling in the ocean. The food on the Samba is excellent, the staff is wonderful and perhaps best of all, the guide is one of the very best in the islands, and is a dad to small kids himself.

The trip includes six nights in the Galapagos - four nights on board sailing to the inner islands and two nights at a land based hotel.  The trip will visit nine inner islands and will include daily guided island walks and snorkeling expeditions to see the fantastic wildlife on land, in the air and under the water.

Here’s the deal. The estimated cost of the six-night Galapagos trip including guiding and meals is US$2800 for adults and US$2100 for children younger than 14. This is an incredible price for a Galapagos trip. Flights to and from the mainland to the islands, Galapagos park fees,  and two nights in Quito will be at an additional cost of approximately $700 per adult, and less for children.
