California/Nevada: North Lake Tahoe, SnowFest 2013 - Crazy Winter Fun for Families. North Lake Tahoe’s annual SnowFest, a 10-day winter carnival and one of the region’s most popular family celebrations.

Here's the scoop. SnowFest 2013 (March 1-10, 2012) will be celebrating 32 years of family fun in North Lake Tahoe. The fun includes parades, snow races, snow parties, snow activities, concerts, and live theater. The fact is that events occur throughout the year and all around the west and north shores of Lake Tahoe, from Homewood to Incline Village, out to Squaw Valley and into Truckee.The event, scheduled for March will again offer off-the-wall special events geared for all ages.

Pull out your bathing suits. Swimming enthusiasts can take to Lake Tahoe’s 40-degree waters for the 22nd Annual Gar Wood’s Polar Bear Swim in Carnelian Bay, where participants race beyond the end of the restaurant’s pier and back, approximately 225 yards. Hundreds of spectators are expected gather to watch this race. Cruise to the slopes. During SnowFest parents or grandparents seeking a lively winter activity can now cruise the world’s only waterborne ski shuttle - the Tahoe Queen. For the winter season, the famous Lake Tahoe paddle wheeler, will be transformed into a cross-lake shuttle every Tuesday and Thursday from early January to early April. Passengers will enjoy perhaps the ultimate Lake Tahoe winter experience filled with beautiful views, a chance to visit both sides of Lake Tahoe, and connect with plenty of vacation activities.
