Florida: Palm Island, Meet Red Beard.

What could be more natural than vacationing on an island with a pirate, a singing pirate. Guests to Palm Island Resort on Florida's Southwest Gulf Coast have a unique opportunity to meet Red Beard and sing along during one of his unique family concerts.

Against the backdrop of a rustic fort with fishing nets and old wood planking, tiki torches, a blazing fire illuminates the figure of a man dressed in black period clothing, with leather boots and belt. With a red beard, scratchy-voice, and wild-eyes, Red Beard the pirate/singer weaves the tale of Bezelbub the Shark. Carrying daggers in his boots and singing buccaneer tunes at the top of his lungs he entertains vacationers at the resort. All in fun, his self-made character is undeniably clever. Playing to both adults and children, the pirate tells jokes, spins stories, and leads sing-a-longs that engage and enchant all ages.

A new line-up of "Island Kids Club" theme days awaits children at the Resort. With base camp at the Island Recreation Center children will enjoy a special theme each day. Topics may include a sports day, island social day, nature day, pirate invasion day, wet & wild day, islander fair lady. It all depends on the season. For younger guests (2-5years) the Resort has created a Tot’s Club with morning activities that include puzzles, crafts, stories and playtime. Pizza/Movie Night for the kids is a resort tradition.

The resort is located on the Gulf Coast just south of Sarasota near Boca Grande Pass. Guests arrive at Palm Island via car ferry or 12-minute boat launch to stay in spacious one-, two- and three-bedroom villas with fully equipped kitchens overlooking the shell-laden beaches and five swimming pools. The property has two miles of pristine, private beach, tranquil water, preserved natural areas and abundant opportunities for family time. Stroll the beach in search of sharks’ teeth and sand dollars, build sandcastles, rent a kayak and ply the waves or snorkel in the calm waters, this is retreat where relaxation is in the breeze. It is a place to do everything or nothing and still have fun.
