It’s a Saturday morning in Fernbank Forest, a 65-acre tract of old-growth Piedmont Forest adjacent to Fernbank Museum of Natural History, and Chris Faulkner leads a group of adults and children through the trees, plants and creeks to discuss how the forest changes from season to season. Throughout the morning, Mr. Faulkner discusses migrating birds, flowering plants and trees, and the pollination duties of various insects. Some participants ask questions about the birds that call the forest home in the springtime and others look deep into the forest to identify multiple examples of the trees and plants discussed by their leader.
