I cannot resist passing along great news for parents or grandparents who are planning holiday activities with children of any age. I haven’t had the chance to check out the newest star in Dallas - the Perot Museum of Nature & Science but feedback has been very positive from family friends with youngsters. The new museum looks like a very promising day adventure – a terrific mini family trip. 

Here’s the scoop. The mission of the new Perot Museum is to inspire minds through nature and science. It does so by actively engaging visitors in science by offering an environment populated with immersive and interactive activities. 

The museum complex includes a rich variety of possibilities ensuring no one will be bored and no two visits will ever be the same. The Museum fully embraces the world of nature and the manmade world, focusing on earth and space sciences, life and natural sciences, chemistry, physical sciences and engineering.

The 180,000-square-foot museum features five floors of public space with 11 permanent exhibit halls, including a children’s museum complete with outdoor play space/courtyard, and a state-of-the-art hall designed to host world-class traveling exhibitions. Other highlights include an expansive glass-enclosed lobby and adjacent rooftop deck; a multi-media, 3D digital cinema; a flexible-space auditorium; a café; and a museum shop. Have a 3D theater experience. The Hoglund Foundation Theater is a 3D digital cinema that boasts bright, crystal-clear images and striking colors through state-of-the-art 4K digital projection. The theater will feature a variety of 2D and 3D films, from educational features and cutting-edge documentaries, to experimental independent films, animation, and even select Hollywood blockbusters. Currently Sea Monsters 3D: A Prehistoric Adventure and Meerkats 3D. Wait for it! Spring break will feature the North Texas premiere of Wildest Weather in the Solar System 3D at the Perot Museum.

Location on the planet. The Museum is located just north of downtown Dallas in Victory Park on a 4.7-acre site at 2201 N. Field Street Texas 75201-1704.
